Come join the brightest minds at the most innovative R&D facility supporting our national security! The Test Engineering (V-14) Thermal & Mechanical team is seeking a recent graduate looking for a challenging postgraduate internship at the post-baccalaureate level.
We are seeking a proactive and technically strong mechanical test engineer with a focus on developing and optimizing mechanical testing processes. A strong emphasis will be placed on data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation of test results to inform engineering decisions. As a V-14 post-masters, we will provide you with a mentor, a challenging project, and an opportunity to present your work and progress to colleagues.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education/Experience: Position requires a Master's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution within the last 3 years and have not yet been accepted into another master's program or a PhD program. Must have maintained a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2.
Desired Qualifications:
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

- Coding experience (Python preferred)
- Experience with data analysis of moderately sized data files.
- Interest in the mechanics of materials

- Experience with mechanical testing (quasi-static, fracture, etc.)
- Experience in test fixture design and assembly
- Experience in 3D CAD (Solidworks) and creation of engineering drawings
- Experience with optical displacement measurement techniques, such as digital image correlation, extrinsic Fabry-Perot fiberoptic interferometry.
