What You Will Do
The Non-Destructive Testing & Evaluation Group (V-6) of the Weapons Engineering Verification and Validation Division (V) requires an energetic, customer-focused professional for its operations. The selected candidate will contribute to performance of non-destructive testing, operations, and development. The work environment involves moderate hazards and classified settings, requiring demonstration of a strong commitment towards safety and security. The selected candidate will be expected to work independently and as a member of a team on challenging, concurrent projects, which require close cooperation, adaptability, initiative, and willingness to provide support wherever needed.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Computer Proficiency: Demonstrated knowledge working with computer systems and applications such as MS Word, and Adobe Acrobat. Demonstrated ability to write reports, emails, and related to effectively communicate with customers and team members.
Safety and Security: Safety and security are a primary responsibility for all Laboratory employees. The successful candidate will maintain their required safety and security training, ensure compliance with safety and security requirements, and make safety and security an integral part of every task.
Team Building: Work collaboratively with team members to complete project/operational work on time and on schedule and strengthen team approaches to provide technical solutions.
Problem Solving: Work with direction to provide technical solutions for streamlining technical/operational processes and actively contributing to the modernization of capabilities, knowledge and infrastructure. Balance working independently and as a team member to complete project/tasks.
Customer Service: V-6 prides itself on providing professional, courteous, and competent customer service to all internal and external customers. We are seeking someone with superior customer service skills -who can build rapport at all levels, have the ability to develop and nurture effective internal customer relationships, and to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, building trust, gaining consensus, and resolving conflicts.
Process Experience: Demonstrated experience working to a documented procedure or technique, ability to learn new techniques, and improve existing procedures.
Education/Experience: Position requires an Associate's Degree and 3 years of experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience and/or qualifications for relevant non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques or methods, or related concepts such as device calibration, high-precision measurement systems, etc.
- Working knowledge of a weapons program, at LANL or another National Laboratory
- Knowledge of the LANL's organizational structure and policies, practices, and procedures
- Demonstrated experience supporting Weapons Production mission and/or NASA programs at TA-55
- Active DOE Q clearance, HRP certification, FMH, and related
- Associate's Degree and/or relevant certification in NDT or related processes
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance, and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include ongoing drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
