Within the ALDWP Maintenance Division, the Operations Integration Center's (OIC) mission is to enable ALDWP in accomplishing the laboratory's nuclear material manufacturing agenda by providing valuable support services in the areas of Integrated Scheduling, Work Management, and Production Area Control activities for the nation's premier nuclear production facility. The OIC will pursue and drive continuous improvement in all areas mentioned above to achieve maximum effectiveness of work in a high hazard nuclear manufacturing environment.
Los Alamos National Laboratory has an opportunity for an exceptional Group Leader (Manufacturing Manager 4) to lead OIC group office.
The Manufacturing Manager 4 (Group Leader) position provides leadership and management for a large group of personnel to perform the OIC scope in a 24/7 operational facility. This position is responsible for providing operational and mission execution support within the Associate Level Directorate Weapons Production (ALDWP) Maintenance Division.
The work environment includes operations within a 24/7 nuclear production facility.
The Group Leader for COO-OIC will be responsible for providing the coordination of the flow of material and work activities (construction, maintenance, and production) in alignment with ALDWP priorities; this includes the management of constrained resources to optimize overall performance. The successful candidates will also help lead a management team of level 1 to level 3 managers enabling them with program execution and technical excellence while meeting goals in operations, business stewardship, and human resource management. The Group Leader will work closely with the Weapons Production program office and mission execution organizations, such as Pit Technologies (PT) Division.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Knowledge and Experience:
Advanced record of technical leadership, manufacturing experience, and management including technical decision-making, planning, and goal setting. Proven ability and experience in identifying, acquiring, and managing resources in support of cross-organizational deliverables, scope, schedule, and budget.
Advanced experience with manufacturing in a high hazard nuclear environment or plutonium processing in a management or supervisory role. Experience with and an understanding of production planning and manufacturing support.
Leadership:
Demonstrated ability to coach talented people, along with an ability to successfully manage conflict among staff. Demonstrated experience as a strong team-oriented leader with a demonstrated ability to build successful and productive collaborations across organizational boundaries and to build the OIC team to meet overall mission needs.
Policy/Procedure:
In-depth knowledge of and proven ability in implementing, enforcing, and providing guidance for Laboratory objectives and other statements of policy, practice, and/or procedure.
Communication:
Demonstrated experience demonstrating effective communication and negotiation skills, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to interact with senior management, executives, and/or major customers/stakeholders.
DOE Order 426.2 requires BS and 4 years of nuclear experience.
Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 8 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent qualification/experience in project management
- Demonstrated experience interacting with DOE/NNSA programmatic sponsors and oversight personnel.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.
426.2: This position is subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities, which establishes entry-level requirements to ensure candidates selected for specific positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Incentive Compensation Program: Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th. The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
