The Plutonium Supply and Disposition Division Office (PSD-DO) is seeking a highly motivated Operations Support Specialist 2/3 to join our dynamic team. You will interact daily with Group Leaders, First Line Managers, and supporting organizations. In this role, you will help ensure the effective execution of operational processes, provide logistical support for the division, and contribute to the success of LANL's national security mission.

This position will be filled at either the Operations Support Specialist 2 or Operations Support Specialist 3 level, depending on the skills, experience, and qualifications of the selected candidate. Additional responsibilities and higher expectations are outlined below for the higher level.
Operations Support Specialist 2 (OSS-2) $71,200 - $92,000 - $112,900
- Safety and security are a primary responsibility for all Laboratory employees. Assures safety and security compliance, maintains required safety and security training, and makes safety and security an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
- Provide direct support of operations in programs, facilities, or organizations that have an operational or process-based deliverable.
- Ensure that the process is followed through to completion with efficiency, accuracy, and with high quality, while understanding and maintaining priorities.
- Follow established procedures, maintain documentation such as record-keeping, budget and cost-tracking, inventory-tracking; develop documentation when necessary.
- Communicate and coordinate with team-members, supervisors, and other involved organizations to ensure that deliverables will be efficiently met, obstacles are anticipated, and priorities are clearly understood.
- Assist with the development of detailed plans to manage processes, scope, quality, efficiency, risk to deliverables, communications, and professional responsibility.
- Perform various administrative tasks such as procurements, travel administration, resource scheduling, as well as office and personnel support.
- Assist with and coordinates the review and revision of procedures, scope, and process development and improvement pertaining to organizational or facility operations.
- Provide issues management support for a diverse range of complex issues where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors, including compilation, review, and assessment of data and the development of management assessments and/or recommendations.
- Assists in developing corrective actions that accurately address apparent and root cause analysis, data analysis, project management, safety and coordination of presentations and briefings and conducting critiques.
- Contributes to the organization's goals and objectives. Resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways.

Operations Support Specialist 3 (OSS-3) $85,900 - $112,900 - $139,900
- Develop, lead, and/or coordinate various administrative functions in conjunction with or in support of operational program compliance, including planning, prioritizing, and scheduling of work activities. Coordinates budgeting, cost tracking, resource planning, and in placing procurements. Coordinates the development of training, delivery of organizational or facility-level training, tracking and assurance of employee training/qualification.
- Provide advanced guidance in interpreting governmental regulations and Laboratory policies impacting organizational or facility operations to ensure compliance.
- Coordinate the review and revision of procedures, specifications, and forms pertaining to facility operations.
- Develop and maintain required operational documentation including, but not necessarily limited to, good Laboratory practices, procedural manuals, conduct of operations, readiness reviews, quality control manuals, manufacturing orders, and change authorizations in accordance with government regulations and Laboratory policy.
- Develop operational policies, procedures, and reports. Develops and coordinates development of administrative processes.
- Assist in the oversight and management of self-assessments and incident investigations and ensures accurate development and/or processing of any required reports and/or recommendations.
- Provide issues management support for a diverse range of complex issues where analysis of data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors, including the compilation, review, and assessment of data and the development of management assessments and/or recommendations.
- Coordinate the development of corrective actions that accurately address apparent and root cause analysis, data analysis, project management, safety and coordination of presentations and briefings and conducting critiques
- Implement related documentation systems and ensure compliance with all applicable document control and records management activities and security/compliance implications.
- May provide additional operational support functions including, but not necessarily limited to, tracking and assurance of employee training and/or qualifications, procurement, property accountability, and access control.
- Develop resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity and where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
- Frequently contributes to the development of new methods and process improvement in relation to operational support activities.
- Provide direct support and oversight of operations activities in programs, facilities, or organizations that have an operational or process-based deliverable.
- Responsible for developing, improving, and implementing processes to ensure complex deliverables are met completely, efficiently, and in accordance with high-level priorities.
- Ensure sound procedures are in place and that required documentation is maintained, protocols are followed, and associated activities are completed such record-keeping, budgeting and cost-tracking, and inventory-tracking.
- Lead communication and coordination with team-members, supervisors, and other involved organizations to ensure priorities are understood by the team, problems are identified and have plans for resolution, and that the deliverables are relevant to the higher-level scope.
- Develop detailed plans to manage processes, scope, quality, efficiency, risk to deliverables, communications, and professional responsibility.
- Oversee that related tasks are delegated appropriately such as procurement, travel administration, contract administration, resource scheduling, and office and personnel support tasks.
- Oversee development and review of procedures, scope, process development and process improvement.
- Oversee review of activities and identification of corrective actions that accurately address apparent and root cause analysis, data analysis, project management, and safety.
- Provide high-level service to internal and external customers while overseeing proper engagement with collaborative and support entities to ensure end-to-end delivery of tasks. May serve as liaison between the Laboratory and various governmental agencies.
- Coordinate the integration of facility specific requirements into readiness review and implement verification review program documents. Assists in delivery of readiness review training as required.

Education/Experience for level 2: Position requires an associate's degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution and 4 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Education/Experience for level 3: Position requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution and 5 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post graduate course work may be desirable.
Desired Qualifications:
- Q Clearance (or the ability to obtain one).
- Advanced understanding of LANL and DOE operational frameworks, including Conduct-of-Operations, Readiness Reviews, Configuration Management, and Integrated Safety Management (ISM).
- Experience interfacing with Laboratory management, external auditors, and regulatory entities.
- Proven ability to communicate safety, security, and quality assurance practices effectively.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills; ability to succeed in multidisciplinary environments.
- Experience in technical or operational process support, particularly within a nuclear or high-reliability organization.
- Familiarity with process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Human Performance Improvement (HPI).
Work Location: The work location for this position is on site and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: The position commitment for this position is 1 year. Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
