The selected intern will report to the New Employee Training and Workforce Development (WMS-1) NET Academy First Line Manager within the Weapons Mission Services Division (WMS). As part of the New Employee Training and Workforce Development group, you will use your skills and subject matter expertise to support orientation, training, and education programs for one of the most important research institutions in the world. You will have the opportunity to develop and implement new processes, programs, and initiatives that benefit all ALDWP new hires and NET Academy participants. Working closely with the New Employee Training Academy Team (NET Academy) and reporting to the NET First Line Manager, your day-to-day responsibilities will include supporting both small and large projects related to orientation, and initial training efforts-such as data entry, scheduling, program execution, customer service, and inter-organization collaboration to support mission-critical functions.

Operational Functions:
Basic knowledge of business activities in an operational environment, including familiarity with one or more of the following: formality of operations, compliance practices, configuration management, training and qualification, and feedback and improvement.
Computer Skills/Business Systems:
Knowledge of business and operations systems and standard software applications (i.e., Microsoft and Adobe products). Ability to quickly learn and adapt to use of LANL business systems (i.e., Oracle, UTrain, etc.). Ability to effectively manage multiple, complex and overlapping calendars.
Critical Thinking:
Entry-level experience in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting facility operations and operational quality assurance.
Communication:
Basic ability to conceptualize and communicate program requirements and detailed elements to both technical and non-technical personnel. Demonstrated skill with interpersonal, written, and verbal communications.
Customer Service:
Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to provide clear, concise support and guidance to others in sometimes stressful situations. Ability to interact professionally with all types of personnel, including external interfaces and executive management.
Education and Experience
Requires a bachelor's degree and experience with orientation and initial training processes in an organization.

Work Environment:
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: L or Q or Q/SCI (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
426.2: This position is subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities, which establishes entry-level requirements to ensure candidates selected for specific positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
