What You Will Do

The successful candidate will work as part of the Materials Development team to provide analytical support for a variety of solid-, liquid, and gas-phase samples.

The successful candidate will be required to:
  • Provide high quality analytical chemistry and materials characterization results for routine samples
  • Work with vendors to maintain, troubleshoot and repair analytical instruments
  • Communicate results through internal reports, technical publications and/or progress reports to sponsors
  • Perform work in glove boxes and/or fume hoods


What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry in the last 2 years and not accepted to graduate school
  • Fluent in common software packages including Microsoft Office/Teams, Chemdraw, Google/Microsoft cloud drives,
  • Demonstrated knowledge with the safe and proper handling of hazardous chemicals
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills

Desired Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience with one or more of the following analytical techniques: TGA, FT-IR, DSC, GC-MS/FID, LC-MS, UV-Vis, NMR, XRD, BET, SEM
  • Evidence of being independent and a self-starter

Work Location:

The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
