Process and Sampling Tec 1: $49,600 - $76,700
Process and Sampling Technicians perform non-destructive X-ray imaging in support of the nuclear weapon stockpile. The selected candidate will provide technical support for multiple types of X-ray imaging systems while following established inspection standards and documented procedures. This role operates in a classified environment with moderate hazards and requires a strong commitment to safety and security, including qualification as a High Explosives Handler. The successful candidate will work both independently and as part of a team on complex, concurrent projects that require close collaboration, adaptability, initiative, and a willingness to support mission needs wherever required.
Process & Sampling Tech 2: $54,900 - $84,300
In addition to the responsibilities outlined above, a Process & Sampling Technician 2 performs work with greater independence and technical judgment. The selected candidate will independently set up and operate X-ray imaging systems, perform precision inspections, and evaluate results for accuracy and compliance with established requirements. They will troubleshoot equipment and process issues, identify anomalies or nonconformances, and support corrective actions.
The Technician 2 may also assist in developing or refining inspection techniques and procedures, contribute to process improvements, and provide guidance or mentorship to less experienced technicians. Work is performed under general supervision, with responsibility for managing assigned tasks and priorities.

Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" Clearance, which normally requires U.S. Citizenship.
Additional Job Requirements for Process & Sampling Tec 2:
In addition to the requirements outlined above, candidates considered for the Process & Sampling Technician 2 level must demonstrate the following:
Technical Experience: Demonstrated experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting inspection or test equipment, such as X-ray imaging systems or similar instrumentation.
Independence and Judgment: Proven ability to work under general supervision, independently plan and execute tasks, and apply technical judgment in selecting methods and techniques for problem solving.
Data Analysis and Evaluation: Ability to evaluate measurement and inspection results for accuracy, identify anomalies or nonconformances, and support corrective actions.
Technical Knowledge: Working knowledge of inspection methods, test-measurement principles, and the interpretation of engineering drawings, specifications, and procedures.
Process Improvement: Experience contributing to process improvements, troubleshooting efforts, or implementation of new techniques, tools, or procedures.
Communication: Ability to clearly document and communicate technical results, issues, and recommendations to team members, engineers, and customers.
Education/Experience at lower level: Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
Education/Experience at higher level: Position requires a High School Diploma and a minimum of 3 years related experience or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
- Ability to go on occasional domestic travel.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Active Q Clearance
- Knowledge of LANL's organizational structure and policies, practices, and procedures.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance, and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.
