What You Will Do

This position will be filled at either the Production Control Specialist level 1 or level 2, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.

DP (Detonator Production) Division is the premier Production Agency (PA) assigned to produce WR (War Reserve) detonators for the Nation's nuclear stockpile security mission.

The Division is part of LANL's Weapons Production Directorate, and is comprised of a team of motivated, highly-skilled technical and operational support staff working in an integrated format. The organization is centered on high-rigor manufacturing operations to produce precision, safe and reliable WR detonator products. DP partners closely with customers and stakeholders such as NNSA (National Nuclear Security Administration), Weapon System Design Agencies (LANL, Sandia, and Livermore), and LANL program management orgs to deliver on uniquely challenging, high-consequence National security objectives. Production Controls Specialist 1 ($59,200-$91,600)

In this role, the selected candidates will assist in effectively and compliantly managing inventory materials for DP.This is a vital part of ensuring manufacturing deliverables are met. You will utilze inventory management systems to maintain and verify inventory. Ensure items are stored on shelves and organized in a manner that will ensure expeditious item retrieval. Will assist in locating, pulling and staging material. Ensure material pulled is the correct material for end use application and complies with applicable codes and standards. Ensure material is controlled, defined storage levels are met, shelf-life enforcement, accuracy of inventory records, and maintenance or special handling of quality-affecting items.

Production Controls Specialist 2 ($71,200-$112,900)

In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this level the selected candidates should have knowledge of relevant Laboratory policies, procedures, and standards. Knowledge of inventory management and control practices. These candidates will contribute to the resolutions of problems of moderately complex scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Assures safety and security compliance, maintains required safety and security training, and makes safety and security an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to stop or pause work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security. General knowledge of supply chain management and resource management practices.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Inventory Management: Demonstrated knowledge of production, inventory control, and procurement applications of production/inventory control methods, and application of technology aided tools to conventional and non-conventional programmatic and operations-based production/inventory control problems.

Inventory planning and control: Demonstrated expereince in production and inventory control and planning methods. Experience performing warehouse/ inventory related functions. Knowledge of resource planning and optimization practices as well as multi-organization resource integration processes

Policy & Procedure implementation and adherance: Demonstrated use of formal procedures, standards and guidelines.

Customer service: Experience supporting internal and external customers

Communication: Demonstrated skill with both written and oral communication. Able to communicate utilizing tact, diplomacy, discretion, and attention to detail.

Federal regulations knowledge: Demonstrated experience with industry, regulatory, or Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) complex codes, standards, and criteria pertinent to the particular engineering discipline.

Supply Chain Management: Demonstrated knowledge of supply chain management and resource management practices.

Additional Job Requirements for Production Control Specialist 2:

In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires:

Procurement knowledge: Demonstrated experience performing procurement related functions in a fast paced, highly regulated environment with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Policies and Procedure Application: Demonstrated ability to comply with policies, and specifically relating to inventory processes and procedures of weapons related items and weapons quality. Experience working with records tracking and inventory database systems.

Education/Experience at Production Control Specialist 1: Position requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience.

Education/Experience at Production Control Specialist 2: Position requires 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.

  • Experience with Asset Suites software

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
