Property Manager 2 (Warehouse Operations Team Lead)

What You Will Do

Warehousing and Salvage Operations (WSO) is part of the Logistics Division. Property Management is committed to the responsible stewardship of assets provided to the Laboratory by the US Taxpayers. This includes the proper disposition of property that has reached the end of its service life or no longer needed. This organization is also responsible for shipping and receiving.

As the Warehouse Manager, you will oversee the operations of a warehouse, including all shipping and receiving, along with buying responsibilities, and make sure that the needed products are stocked in a timely manner. As a supervisor of teamsters, you will handle daily operations of the warehouse, including freight, shipping and receiving, returns and transfers, while also maintaining warehouse inventory. You will maintain high levels of accuracy in day-to-day operations, lead and develop the warehouse team and provide impeccable customer service. You will be responsible for the enforcement of all policies and procedures. You will communicate both orally and in writing with upper management, staff and LANL/external customers regarding applicable Stores/Warehouse policies and procedures.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Process Knowledge

In depth knowledge in the Material Control processes and inventory controls process, analyzing/establishing Min/Max levels, conducting physical counts and reconciles with data storage systems.

Communication & Organization

Proficient skills in communications, planning, and scheduling. Clearly communicates expectations in the areas of safety and security. Demonstrate excellent analytical skills with the ability to analyze situations accurately and effectively. Proficiency in applicable desktop computer applications including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power Point, and related operating systems and or applications.


Demonstrate strong leadership, coaching/mentoring, and committed to team building and staff development. Ability to supervise, motivate, and evaluate customer service representatives. Ability to manage conflict. Working experience in oversight and direct guidance of collective bargaining agreement employees.

Property Management Experience

Thorough knowledge of government personal property control administration, corporate office, and field procedures and documents related to a multi-discipline project. Direct experience in managing the workload distribution and execution of the work, as well as personnel interviews, selection, salary planning, classification changes, performance evaluation, career counseling, transfers, and terminations.

Education Required: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 3 years related experience.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Thorough understanding of government contracts and flow-down of personal property clauses and requirements.
  • Knowledge of reviewing and implementation of organization budgets and resource allocation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge as a mentor for other team members and students.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and locate environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in the use of LANL-¬¨wide systems including Oracle Inventory module.
  • Experience with Laboratory property policies, property management manual and applicable federal regulations.
  • 8+ years of direct work experience in property/inventory/supply chain management

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). *Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
