What You Will Do
The Group of Condensed Matter and Complex Systems in the Theoretical Division of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) has an immediate opening of a postdoctoral position in theoretical modeling of strongly correlated electron systems. The opened position provides an opportunity to study electronic phases and quantum phase transition arising from competing interactions in effective low-energy model Hamiltonians. The position will focus on using the state-of-the-art many-body numerical approaches to understand emergent phenomena and their response to external stimuli in heavy fermion quantum systems. The role also includes calculations of physically measurable single particle spectral function and dynamical fluctuations.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
The successful candidate must have a strong skill, with an excellent scientific record of publications, in computational condensed matter physics. Demonstrated experience with quantum Monte Carlo or density matrix renormalization group, and/or numerical renormalization group method, directly on lattice models or within dynamical mean-field theory framework, is required. The ability to work creatively and independently, as a part of a diverse team, is important. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
Education/Experience:
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in condensed matter theory (completed within the last 5 years).
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of strongly correlated quantum real materials and construction of effective model Hamiltonians from first-principles calculations.

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
