W93 Hardware Manager (Production Control Specialist 1/2)

What You Will Do

This position will be filled at either the Production Controls Specialist 1 or Production Controls Specialist 2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.

Join the Hardware Team in the W93 System Development and Realization Group (Q-20) as a Product Controls Specialist 1/2. Make an impact by supporting development of the first new weapon system in over 30 years. The W93/Mk7 Systems Development and Realization Group (Q-20) is responsible for defining, developing, and fielding the warhead system for the Navy's newest sub-launched ballistic missile program.

In this role you will work with test leads to execute hardware fabrication procurements while tracking, shipping, receiving, and allocating parts according to a test execution schedule. You will interface with commercial vendors, LANL Prototype Fabrication, and Department of Energy Production Agencies (e.g. Pantex).

Production Controls Specialist 1 $60,500 to $93,600

As a Product Controls Specialist 1 you will be responsible for placing hardware orders, tracking them, and coordinating shipping and receiving for the W93/Mk7 test execution schedule.

Production Controls Specialist 2 $72,800 to $115,400

As a Product Controls Specialist 2 your responsibilities will also include being responsible for hardware management of an entire focus area of testing, such as local tests, joint tests, or hydrodynamic tests.

Additional Job Requirements for Product Controls Specialist 2

In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires:
  • Production Knowledge: Familiarity with product definition and manufacturing processes for hardware
  • Schedule Planning: Familiarity with schedule planning concepts that ensure on-time delivery
  • Inventory Management: Familiarity with inventory management and control concepts

Education/Experience at lower level: Position requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience.

Education/Experience at higher level: Position requires 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.

Desired Qualifications:
  • LANL\DOE Procurements: Experience with LANL\DOE procurement rules and processes
  • Supply Chain Knowledge: Experience with supply chain analysis, planning and management
  • Product Lifecycle Management: Experience with managing the life cycle of parts from design definition to disposal
  • Security Clearance: Active Q Clearance, equivalent DoD clearance, or the ability to obtain an Active Q Clearance

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance, and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
