Infrastructure Service Division is seeking an energetic and customer-focused Computing Systems Professional 1 for the Programmatic Services Group: Windows Server Team. ISD-PS consists of approximately 85 professionals, technicians, and students. ISD division is responsible for the desktop and server support for computing environments at the Laboratory. The division is organized around various server support teams that are focused on supporting unclassified and classified programmatic and mission support needs, and a technical services group that provides the enterprise level configuration management services for these computing environments.
The successful candidate will work on a team supporting customers at locations across the Laboratory, performing a wide variety of system administration activities for servers and workstations, including but not limited to:
- Support Windows servers and desktop systems.
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot servers, workstations, and network issues in a heterogeneous environment
- Implement and manage Windows solutions to support customer workstation requirements.
- Support server/client virtual environments.
- Resolve customer support issues and fulfill requests through remote and onsite support.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues including file shares and authentication.
- Communicate technical information to both technical and nontechnical personnel.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills with workstations and servers.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills to ensure positive customer interactions.
- Willingness and ability to learn new technologies independently and proactively.
- Proficient in documenting tasks and processes accurately to maintain clear records.
Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with vulnerability remediation.
- Basic knowledge of enterprise configuration management tools.
- Experience using a formal ticket management system, such as ServiceNow.
- Familiarity with NIST guidelines and standards.
- Familiarity with OpenShift.
- Experience with VMware, vSphere and/or vCenter
- Active DOE Q-clearance
Work Environment:
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
