What You Will Do

As a Learning Specialist 3 with the Institutional Standards, Procedures and Quality Team, you will work to analyze data, design, develop, evaluate, and maintain organizational training programs, policy and procedure documents, and contribute to overall quality assessment procedures. Collaborating with subject matter experts, you will work with customers, stakeholders, sponsors, and/or regulators to assure training programs meet customer needs, regulatory drivers, contractual requirements, and the mission agenda.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Technical expertise in the systematic approach to training (ADDIE)
  • Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to provide clear, concise support and guidance to others in sometimes stressful situations. Ability to interact professionally with all types of personnel, including external interfaces and executive management.
  • Expert-level proficiency in the use of common computer-based applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).
  • Expert knowledge of adult learning theory and performance-based training and evaluation techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to research and identify requirements as they pertain to organizational/regulatory needs and requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and strategically to multiple audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to assimilate data from various sources into high level decision making.


Desired Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Department of Energy (DOE) orders and standards pertaining to training
  • Knowledge of Laboratory policies and procedures pertaining to training, including ADDIE
  • Sound understanding of the Laboratory's learning management system (UTrain)
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize project management skills and techniques across a wide array of deliverables
  • Sound understanding of processes involved in position-specific job analysis.
  • Knowledge of document control processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of process improvement concepts
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver content to all levels of personnel

Education: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 8 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Work Environment:

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 Year.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
