The Associate Laboratory Director for Plutonium Infrastructure (ALDPI) at Los Alamos National Laboratory manages the execution of major capital projects related to infrastructure required to meet plutonium pit production deliverables. We are looking for an exceptional project professional who will work directly with senior leadership to ensure execution of the ALDPI capital construction project portfolio. The Directorate is at the center of execution of capital projects in and around the Los Alamos National Laboratory's plutonium pit production facilities for U.S. nuclear weapons and is focused on sustaining the current stockpile; providing life extensions of the stockpile; and helping shape a globalized nuclear world. Reporting to the Associate Laboratory Director for Plutonium Infrastructure, this position is critically important to the safe and efficient execution of infrastructure projects. The Senior Director is accountable to the Associate Laboratory Director for Plutonium Infrastructure to lead and ensure that the processes and staff that manage the portfolio and all related functions are in place and effectively implemented. The necessary functions include project management, cost and scheduling, estimating, construction management and execution, startup and commissioning, and the incorporation of deployed functions from other Directorates across the Laboratory, such as engineering, safety, quality assurance, procurement, and records management. The senior director manages and ensures the senior leaders responsible for parts of the portfolio, as well as all disciplinary functions are effectively and efficiently executing the capital asset projects within the Plutonium Infrastructure portfolio.

Technical Leadership
Successful experience as a senior leader or manager of a multi-billion-dollar, complex technical organization, including demonstrated experience leading strategic and tactical planning and execution, customer service, project management, continuous improvement, and management systems such as safety, security, configuration management, conduct of operations and earned value management. Position requires advanced knowledge of design, construction, and transition to operations of highly complex projects within a nuclear operations environment.
Technical Excellence
Advanced, expert-level knowledge and demonstrated experience of project, program, and portfolio management, estimating, cost and scheduling, and construction methods and management in a nuclear environment preferably within DOE or national laboratory.
Coalition Building
Demonstrated success building and growing both internal and external relationships with a variety of constituencies, sponsors, other construction project organizations, higher-level managers, direct reports, and other employees. Demonstrated success guiding and leading field efforts with expertise in building and managing multiple integrated project teams. Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills for multiple levels of employees and stakeholders a must.

Strong leadership characteristics including personal integrity and accountability, fiduciary responsibility, trustworthiness in relationships, commitment to quality and excellence in programs and operations, commitment to workforce diversity and human resource development, and effective oral and written communication skills. Compliance and Security
Demonstrated experience developing and implementing plans or programs to meet or exceed contractual requirements, performance measures, regulations, and laws, including the proven ability to do so while operating within a highly sensitive national security environment.
Clearance
Applicants must have the ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q clearance, which requires US citizenship. Dual citizenship permitted in very limited circumstances.
Education/Experience
Requires a bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred) in a related scientific or engineering discipline and a minimum fifteen years of experience in engineering, construction, or project management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications:
Government Relations
Successful record of working with federal, state and local government leaders in communicating complex institutional messages. Experience within NNSA complex under DOE O 413.3B requirements preferred.
LANL
Demonstrated experience interfacing with Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) management and a broad knowledge of current LANL operations and activities.
Project Work
Background and experience in all aspects of engineering, procurement, and construction projects preferred.
Project Management Certification
PMP certification

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Incentive Compensation Program: Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th. The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
