MSS-APT/CMMS (Automation and Predictive Technologies/Computerized Maintenance Management System) is a multidisciplinary customer support organization where our goal is to ensure prompt, courteous, and efficient service by delivering reliable, responsive, and personalized support. We provide support to all Facility Operations Directorates (FODs) across the laboratory for CMMS and Mobile Work Package, Predictive Maintenance and Analytics, Building Automation Systems, and Equipment Reliability.
The APT/CMMS Solutions Architect 4 will be responsible for providing the institution with a robust, reliable CMMS (currently using Hitachi Asset Suite). The selected candidate will maintain the application, database, integrations, reports and other programs as required for use in the development and maintenance of work control and other supporting processes including financials, payroll, P6 and reporting and analytics applications. This position will support software applications and systems by investigating, designing, developing and maintaining CMMS hardware and software; work with customers and end users to understand requirements, coordinate resources, monitor timeline, and plan, track, and execute project plans; analyze user requirements and evaluate work processes; and prepare concepts for information system solutions and evaluate the cost-effectiveness of these concepts. This position will also bridge communication between the CMMS Business Administration and the Software/Hardware technical support team.

- Stay abreast of industry trends while ensuring regulatory compliance to inform the future state of IT systems within their purview.
- Lead complex projects that require in-depth analysis, gathering of customer requirements, and cross-discipline solution sets.
- Research solutions for complex problems that span multiple disciplines, including hardware, software development, systems programming, data management, security, networking, telecommunications, or related disciplines.
- Work with a team of software developers and system analysts to address production issues and inform future process improvements
- Provide technical leadership and architectural direction for complex systems utilized in maintenance and operations.
- Lead complex solutions that require in-depth analysis, gathering of customer requirements, and cross-discipline solution sets.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Technical Knowledge: Proven history of managing and Leading complex IT systems, including troubleshooting production issues, planning and execution of major system upgrades, and incorporating new or emerging technologies. Ability to technically review existing applications and build new solutions. Ability to respond to customer requests for bug fixes, enhancement requests, etc. Ability to diagnose and resolve issues involving complex IT problems. Knowledge of hardware and operating systems including system architectures, databases, network infrastructures and Software risk management. Advanced knowledge and skills in developing system requirements (both functional and technical) for analyzing and implementing IT systems, including software components, hardware, and database design. Expert knowledge of data reporting and analytics platforms (Denodo, Microstrategy, Power Bi, etc.)
Software & Hardware Knowledge: Knowledge of application software development lifecycle frameworks and methodologies and related tools and techniques. Expert knowledge of software configuration management best practices with experience in software design concepts, software maintenance and user documentation. Knowledge of the software verification and validation (V&V) processes, including software testing that ensures requirements specification, design, and coding of software adequately fulfill all intended functions. Expert-level knowledge of hardware and software integration and testing. Advanced knowledge of the DevSecOps culture and principles and experience with CI/CD development, and deployment of software in diverse application environments.
Communication: Ability to translate technical terms to non technical terms and present them to audiences outside of the technical team.
Database Management: Ability to use databases and information management systems. Expert level knowledge in data management, data loads and data quality with the ability to ensure data integrity among multiple databases. Expert level knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL.
Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 12 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
- 10 years of programming experience.
- Experience with Java/C++/Python.
- Strong capability to lead and train others on complex procedures and software integrations.
- Experience with automated testing, both design and execution.
- Familiarity with version control solutions, such as GitHub, etc.
- Experience with Denodo Development Methods, Microstrategy Reporting, Jira/Confluence Ticketing and Process Documentation and CI/CD Deployment Methods.
- Knowledge of Web-based technologies including Web page development and maintenance and Web-based tools and utilities.
- Familiarity with Linux and Windows Environments.
- Working experience and/or knowledge with a CMMS and eWP applications such as Asset Suites and Mobile Work Package (MWP).
- Active Q Clearance.
Work Location: The work location for this position is hybrid and is located in Los Alamos, NM. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.
Position Commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular Position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Incentive Compensation Program: Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th. The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
