The Acquisition Services Management (ASM) Division is seeking an experienced manager who specializes in supplier third/ party risk to develop and implement a comprehensive supplier management program. This includes taking on a leadership role to drive strategy, roadmap projects and programs, processes, tools, metrics and reporting throughout the lifecycle of the supplier relationship. This role requires someone who is confident driving quick, iterative solutions to achieve significant impact. This leader will collaborate with key stakeholders in Strategic Sourcing, Procurement Operations, Legal, Finance, Quality Performance, as well as lab wide business partners. This position reports directly to the Deputy Division Leader for ASM Operations.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive supplier relationship management program, including performance metrics, risk assessments and continuous improvement activities.
- Build and foster cross-functional relationships. Proactively engage stakeholders to drive adoption of policies, processes and tools.
- Demonstrate operational understanding of assigned process area. Constantly problem-solve, innovate and optimize supplier-related processes and reduce risk
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure all project deliverables are met and stakeholders are satisfied with the outcomes.
- Obtain practical knowledge of operational constraints/ barriers and adapt within that framework to develop enterprise solutions at a fast pace to gain adoption while mitigating risk.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings, and develop and implement changes to drive efficiency and effectiveness
- Lead performance discussions with suppliers to identify and resolve issues and to promote strong supplier relationships
- Provide training and support to internal teams on Supplier Management best practices and procedures
- Lead the ASM Supplier Management group in capability and staff development, succession planning, all areas of personnel and performance management, and ensuring a safe and secure workplace.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Leadership: Demonstrated experience in managing a team in all aspects of organizational management to include staff development, succession planning, personnel management, and performance management. Demonstrated leadership competencies to effectively manage diverse and complex activities and issues in support of LANL's supplier management functions.
Knowledge and Expertise: Demonstrated experience in strategic supplier relationship management, supplier performance management, third-party risk management, project/ process management, sourcing or procurement. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in evaluating, developing and implementing supplier related performance management solutions. Experience driving change and improving end-to-end processes.
Accountability: Experience working with confidential or proprietary information, classified documents, or sensitive information.
Communication: Demonstrated communication and negotiation skills, with a track record of developing and building relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Collaboration: Experience in interacting effectively with all levels of personnel; building trust, gaining consensus, and resolving conflicts. Experience in developing and nurturing effective customer relationships.
Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and eight years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with full suite of SAP Ariba modules.
- Professional certification in Contracting, examples:
- National Contact Management Association (NCMA), a Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM) or Certified Federal Contract Manager (CFCM);
- Institute for Supply Chain Management (ISM), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM).
- Experience developing and implementing supplier management business processes at an institutional level.
- Trained in process improvement tools (e.g., Lean and Six Sigma principles).
- Active DOE Q clearance.
Work Location: The work location for this position is telework and is located in Los Alamos. Telework is defined as working from offsite but within 2hours ground commute of this location. Reporting onsite may be periodically necessary. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.
Position Commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Incentive Compensation Program: Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th. The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
