MSS-CMMS System Analyst (System Analyst 3)

What You Will Do

MSS-CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) is a multidisciplinary group, providing support to all Facility Operations Directorates (FODs) for CMMS and Mobile Work Package support, Davis Bacon Review, Ad-hoc Reports, and Reliability Engineering. We are a customer service group where our goal is to make your experience seamless and satisfying by providing prompt, courteous, and efficient assistance by delivering reliable, responsive, and personalized technical support.

Specifically, the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) System Analyst is responsible for providing the institution with a robust, reliable CMMS. Maintains application, database, reports and other programs as required for use in the development and maintenance of Work Control process and other supporting processes including Financials, Payroll, P6 and OBI applications. Supports software applications and systems by investigating, designing, developing and maintaining CMMS hardware and software. Works with customers and end users to understand requirements, coordinate resources, monitor timeline, and plan, track, and execute project plan. Analyzes user requirements and evaluates work processes. Prepares concepts for information system solutions and evaluates the cost-effectiveness of these concepts. The CMMS System Analyst will bridge communication between the CMMS Business Administration and the Software/Hardware technical support team.

  • Advise on alternatives and assesses technical limitations within operational realities.
  • Based on design documents, design and implement application configurations.
  • Provide software testing oversight.
  • Plan and execute or coordinate related unit, integration and acceptance testing between the extended technical team and customer.
  • Oversee the implementation of and provides consultation for software engineering process improvement in all supported software engineering process areas to include: project planning, risk management, requirements development and management, verification and validation and its related automation, configuration management, quality assurance, and organizational training.


What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Technical Knowledge: Ability to technically review existing applications and build new solutions. Ability to respond to customer requests for bug fixes, enhancement requests, etc. Ability to diagnose and resolve issues involving complex IT problems. Knowledge of hardware and operating systems including system architectures, network infrastructures and Software risk management. Advanced knowledge and skills in developing system requirements, specifications, and functional interfaces between system software components and the system-level design.

Software & Hardware Knowledge: Knowledge of application software development lifecycle frameworks and methodologies and related tools and techniques. Expert knowledge of software configuration management best practices with experience in software design concepts, software maintenance and user documentation. Knowledge of the software verification and validation (V&V) processes, including software testing that ensures requirements specification, design, and coding of software adequately fulfill all intended functions. Expert level knowledge of hardware and software integration and testing.

Communication: Ability to translate technical terms to layperson's terms and present them to audiences outside of the technical team.

Maintenance Operations: Familiarity with facility maintenance processes and procedures as related to IT systems. Ability to take the lead in the development of step-by-step instructions for work. Ability to conduct research, investigate alternative solutions, and recommend solutions on problems affecting infrastructure and site planning programs and projects. Ability to review and understand end-to-end work processes and workflows.

Database Management: Ability to use databases and information management systems. Expert level knowledge in data management, data loads and data quality with the ability to ensure data integrity among multiple databases.

Education/Experience at System Analyst 3 level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 8 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post graduate course work may be expected.

Desired Qualifications:
  • 10 years of programming experience.
  • Expert-level experience with SQL.
  • Experience with Java/C++/Python.
  • Experience with automated testing, both design and execution.
  • Familiarity with version control solutions, such as GitHub, etc.
  • Experience with Denodo Development Methods, Microstrategy Reporting, Jira/Confluence Ticketing and Process Documentation and CI/CD Deployment Methods.
  • Knowledge of Web-based technologies including Web page development and maintenance and Web-based tools and utilities.
  • Familiarity with Linux and Windows Environments.
  • Working experience and/or knowledge with a CMMS and eWP applications such as Asset Suites and Mobile Work Package (MWP).
  • Active Q Clearance.

Work Location: The work location for this position is hybrid and is located in Los Alamos, NM. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details

Directive 206.2- Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
