What You Will Do
The Sigma Operations Group (SIGMA-OPS) seeks an energetic, customer-focused individual for the position of Project/Program Specialist 2 to serve as an integral part of the Programmatic Project Management Team. This team focuses on the incorporation of project management principles and the implementation of standard processes across Sigma Division. Additionally, this team serves as a primary liaison with a variety of Sigma Division programmatic organizations, support organizations, and LANL program offices. The successful candidate will provide high-level professional business and operational support, working alongside Sigma Division project leaders to meet programmatic project deliverables. This position requires a motivated and professional individual who can act independently, is comfortable with a broadly defined scope of work, and who can operate within a dynamic organization.

Education/Experience for Project/Program Specialist 2: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

Specifically, the Project/Program Specialist 2 will:
- Update the project leaders and team leaders on schedule status, issues that need deconflicting, and other risks associated with the successful execution of a project.
- Update project management tools so that the project leaders, line managers, and program management staff have a real-time understanding of the project status.
- Assist with operational activities of programmatic projects (e.g. procurement, shipments) to ensure the technical staff is ready to execute work.
- Assist project leaders with Sigma-wide initiatives, including work acceptance and project prioritization.
- Assist with work package negotiation of small/less-complex projects, and manage scope, schedule, and budget through project lifecycle.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Knowledge of work planning and project management principles.
- Demonstrated experience interpreting project schedules and a proven ability to conceptualize and communicate major elements of project deliverables and milestones to both technical and non-technical personnel.
- Demonstrated experience with budget tracking and reporting.
- Experience working effectively under pressure of deadlines, interruptions, and changing priorities, and the ability to follow multiple tasks to completion.
- Experience making independent decisions and researching, analyzing, and resolving problems both independently and as a team member.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills providing excellent and professional customer service to individuals at all levels.
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
- Ability to obtain a Q clearance, which normally requires U.S. citizenship.
